Gravity

Up...down...patience...breathe...don't give up...our thoughts, like our lives, can at times seem like a roller coaster controlled by fate's gravity. Though some of us claim to live by faith, I realize that most of the times I live by circumstance. It becomes so difficult to set my doubt aside when I don't see "enough" change in the areas of my life that trouble me.

I've been broke in my life a lot longer than I've had money, and yet I still live broke at times. It took me 30 years to believe that if I kept myself holy and pure before God that He would reward me with a beautiful and amazing wife. These areas of life were a big struggle for me and for that reason I allowed doubt to rule my life concerning those circumstances.

God, like gravity, find commonality in the way they operate. Gravity tells me that what goes up simply must come down. That's his promise to me. I can say, excuse me Mr. Gravity but today I'm choosing to not believe you and I'm gonna jump off this building and fly. He'd probably look at me in a father-like gaze and say, "sure son, go ahead and try." Next thing you know, Manny dies of stupidity!

Now in reality, I don't know too many people that would defy gravity like that. I know I don't. Shoot, when I'm anywhere near a ledge or on the roof of any building, my respect for gravity is so severe that I don't even think about disobeying his law. So why do I not apply that same logic to the promises of my Savior? After all, gravity was His invention.
We need to come to a place where we trust His promises as much as we trust that if we jump, at some point we must land. If He says He'll do it, at some point He will! We may not know the hang time of His promises, but we do know that in His perfect timing they will land in our lives.

God give us understanding, not just of our situations, but of Your character. That way if there's ever a time we don't understand our circumstance, we simply refer to your character and our understanding of who YOU are.

We love you Lord

God, teach us more of who you are every day. We want to live in faith to please you.

Thanks so much Manny for this inspirational message. I just teared. I never saw it in that perspective; the definition of gravity and the relation of being a believer in Jesus. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen! Amen!
