The BIGGER Picture

So yesterday a really good friend of mine confided in me enough about some issues he’s been going through. He’s been having a hard time dealing with condemnation and feeling the guilt of decisions he’s made that weren’t necessarily the best for his spiritual walk. This made me aware of the fact that there are still many people who struggle with this very same issue. So in this blog I will attempt to shed some light on this subject.

I want to start of with saying that Christ never came to earth to condemn it. Meaning it was never a part of his role or assignment to condemn any one! That alone immediately crosses out the idea that God the father and God the son are some where in heaven pointing there finger at us, shaking their heads in disappointment. The original definition for the word “sin” is to miss the mark. It’s like your playing a game of darts and you can’t seem to hit the bullseye. We all by our human nature miss the target but because of Christ we have been made righteous. This means to be accepted as good people in the eyes of God. So we are individuals that God has accepted as good people (righteous) who miss the mark (sin) and because of Christ and his righteousness we are able to make things right and move on! Not once does God ever look at us as “unworthy pieces of dirt” that don’t deserve to live! I understand that in many occasions this is how we feel that we are merely dirt and don’t deserve his blessings. Yes, fact is that Adam physically came from dirt BUT his spirit came from God. Yes, in the world that we live in someone who does bad doesn’t deserve to be rewarded BUT Christ doesn’t play by the same rules. Christ came because there was a problem. Obviously mankind wasn’t doing to good. So because man was living in sin (missing the mark) and actin’ a fool God rewarded us with his son and granted us the ability of having eternal life! Jesus had every right to come down to earth and pass out one way tickets straight to hell but obviously he didn’t. Instead he gave us the reward of entering into the Kingdom of God. Why because there was a bigger picture at hand.

Sin is only meant to entertain or distract you from reaching the bigger picture. I know people who spend days almost weeks drowning in condemnation because they’ve made the wrong decisions. I understand that sin makes us feel bad and yucky, that’s the point, but don’t waste your time feeling bad. Remember that even though we all miss the mark, you were made righteous. Get up and continue going after that bigger picture. There is no time to feel guilty! There is an assignment at hand! It’s in the enemy’s best interest for us to entertain ourselves with guilt, then to get back up and achieve our assignment here on earth. Too much is at stake for us to waste time on feeling bad for something we did when really we should get upset at the fact that we’re wasting time and let that fuel us to get up and do something about it!

So ask yourself everytime you mess up, what is it entertaining me from? Could it be from a dream you want to make reality or an assignment that your supposed to fullfil? That way when you do miss the mark don’t waste anytime in feeling guilty but get back up because there is a bigger picture at hand, there is something far greater that God needs you to worry about! What is it?

Becoming GREAT.

So if you don’t know by now we as Group 1 Crew have taken up the assignment to stir up dreams in the lives of who ever we come across. I personally discover more and more every day what my dreams mean to me, and the importance of why God has injected my very being with these desires and goals that I want to so passionately achieve.

I was reading Matthew 20:20-28 and here we have a story of a mother that wanted the best for her 2 children John and Jacob, who were 2 of Christ’s closest disciples, and because of that very reason she asked Jesus if he can sit one of them to the right of his throne and the other to his left. Right away he responded and said He can’t make that decision because those positions have already been given to who ever his Father has created them for. Now the mothers request wasn’t a bad one cause just like every mother she wanted the best for her kids but what concerned Jesus was her thought process. She thought Jacob and John could obtain these positions because of who she knew. If we continue to read further down it talks about how the disciples got upset because they heard of what John and Jacobs mother did. So Jesus rounded up his disciples and said to them, every one else might run there kingdom like this, where rulers have great power over their people but the Kingdom of Heaven doesn’t play by those rules. Who ever wants to become great must first serve and whoever wants to be first must become a slave.

In other words in Gods kingdom it’s not about who you know. Sometimes we get upset and frustrated because you have a dream you want to see become reality but you feel that you don’t know the right people or have the right connections that will help you achieve your dreams, but Jesus said don’t focus on those things what should be your main concern is serving. Instead of focusing so much on building up our own empires or the materialistic gain a superstar life has to offer, our focus should be on how can we use our gifts, talents, strengths to serve the world that we live in. If we were to shift our thought process and not worry on personal gain but stay focused on using our dreams to better the world we live in then that is when we set our selves up for GREATNESS! Why wouldn’t God then want to promote us, bless us with the finances we need, or bring the right people in our path that will help us get closer to our dreams. If we use our gifts and our dreams to serve, he didn’t say we would then become good or better, but when we serve our gifts to the world he will then take care of making us GREAT!

Jada Pinkett Smith smiled at me!

Hey what’s up Group 1 Land!

I’m here in Chicago, IL, a.k.a The Windy City, relaxing, hanging out with some friends and working on some music, just because I’ve had an itchy finger lately! Lol! We’ve had a few days off this week which is great so I’ve been soaking it in as much as I can!!! Oh guess what! So last night I went out to eat at a restaurant/bowling alley type of place which was connected to an AMC theatre and when I arrived, the entrance to the theatre was filled with press and paparazzi. That sparked my curiosity so I worked my way to the front and when I looked, there she was ladies and gentlemen…Jada Pinkett herself! Just as much as she glows on television, she glows in person! So after like 30 minutes of just staring at her (ok it was really only 29 minutes) I left with my friends to grab some food but it was so cool to see Will Smith’s wife in person! I felt so much closer to him!! Lol!

Well anywaaayyys! So heres some good news! Air1 radio is finally playing “Keys To The Kingdom” and I’ve been getting phone calls and text messages from all over the states from friends and family members who have been catching it on the radio while driving or at home! So if you haven’t called yet to request it, please get on your phone and call right now!! Pretty pleeeeaaassseee!!! We need your support and in order for us to keep making more music for y’all we have to show these radio stations that there are people out there who like Group 1 Crew!!! Lol! So spread the word to your friends, family, myspacers, and facebookers to call and request!!! TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!

A Note From Pablo

So last night I went to a local lounge in downtown Orlando to meet up with an artist friend (BrownStudy) to check out some local talent that he had been talking to me about. I get there and the lounge is in the basement of one of the buildings in downtown. The place had a real cool vibe, a bar to the right and a stage to the left with a set of drums a bass a guitar and some keys and a mic stand, dead in the center with a microphone waiting for the first emcee/poet/singer to rock it correctly. Right next to the stage was a d.j. spinning to the sounds of black star, common, jill scott and more of my favorite hip-hop/r&b artist that only led me to believe that this place knew what they were doing…
I go to sit down and see some people I haven't seen in a while so I say my "hi's and whats up's". There was an open mic session of about 10 different acts who all in their own distinct way did their thing. An hour into the open mic session the host of the event gets on stage along with some musicians. As they all get situated the host grabs the mic and says " And now for the special guest of this evening Peter Baldwin!". Cheers and claps from his local fan-base fill this small basement. He walks up wearing a book bag and a plane t-shirt and jeans, straps on his guitar and opens up with a cover from John Mayer "Trust Myself". As soon as the band hits their first chord and he sang his first note, I automatically knew it was going to be a good investment of my time!
The night was filled with nothing but high energy and great original material. A room once filled with claps and cheers were now over powered by Peter Baldwins sound. I couldn't stop thinking about how every artist that got on that stage used to be me 5 years ago. Willing to get on any stage and perform in front of any audience all for the love of the dream. We Fast forward 5-6 yrs later and here I am, doing the same thing I was doing back then but in a much larger scale now with bigger audiences and bigger stages. Last night reminded me of how endurance and hard work can go a long way. I had many opportunities to put away with the dream either because of discouragement and doubt or just plain foolish decisions that could of easily put an end to the dream. At the given moment it seemed like the dream was nothing more then just a dream but now that I look back that was all part of the process of giving birth to a dream baby! Times will get hard and people will say painful things and it might seem like this dream is too heavy to carry. Remember that when its time to give birth, pain and fatigue is all part of the process but the final outcome is worth every last bit of it!!
